Probably encountered Ben Westbeech the first time when I was listening Joris Voorn’s legendary mix for Resident Advisor 4 years ago. (Wow, I’m realizing now that it has been a long time). Back then, Joris Voorn featured the Wahoo mix of Ben Westbeech’s Hang Around. One of the few remixes of Ben Westbeech’s tracks, using his amazing voice perfectly in a new-interpretation.
However, my encounter this time is quite similar. The bristol based producer, singer and DJ has just launched his new album ‘There’s More Life Than This’, which consists only of collaborations with highly profiled producers like Henrik Schwarz, Lovebirds, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Midland and more. Maybe that’s why the album doesn’t really feel like an album. But the approach is ambitious and Ben Westbeech seems to be back on track again with this real moniker, after showing up under his UK-Funky name ‘Breach’ and doing few other collabos.
